Graphic Material in Writing

Hello everyone. I find myself needing to post this. Recently I posted in several groups that I am happy to proof read and even do editing for aspiring writers. However, I need to set some boundaries: Here is what I WILL NOT proof read or edit:

Stories with rape or torture of a graphic nature.
Stories with any kind of graphic child abuse.

Lets be real folks. Is there a market for that kind of thing? Sure. We all know about it. It is however, my opinion that such activity is not necessary to write a good story. Allusions to such activity or survivor scenario's are good reading. Especially if the protagonist or anti-hero embraces the pain of such horrors and somehow becomes a stronger person for the experience.

There are enough horrible things happening in this world. I have seen such things first hand.

Remember, this is just my opinion

Do Your Research

  Hello everyone, So with my second book, The Jarl's Shadow at the publisher, one would think I would take some time to relax. Maybe watch movies, play video games, or even read books by other authors. No. I am already working on my third book in the trilogy, titled "The Hammer of The Bear." What do I mean by "working?" I could start freewriting to get my ideas down and go with what comes to mind, and yes, I will be doing that. However, the first thing I do before starting a new book is research. The Hammer of the Bear is based around the main character, Adnar Raynecksson. Hello everyone! So today, I felt compelled to write about success and failure. I think these are concepts that everyone can identify with, whether you are a writer or not. What is success? How is it measured? For that matter, what is failure? So let's face it, we live in a very materialistic society. Such is the case no matter where on the planet you dwell. Success is based in terms of value. How much money do you have? How many toys do you've? How many friends? To a point, yes, having lots of money and toys and friends can be viewed as a sign of success.
